Tree Pruning

Removal of large Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) and RVT 20% of Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastinum).

This work was carried out on behalf of Mitch Westwood at www.westwoodsolutions.co.uk
The job was at the Moat House Hotel in Stafford and the first task was to remove a large Scots Pine overhanging a Pond. The Pine was section felled using advanced rigging techniques and lowered to the ground safely with zero damage.

The second job was a little more intricate. A large Horse Chestnut had over the past few years lost some major limbs. This is a common occurence in this species and of this age. Due to the aesthetic value of the tree it was decided that an RVT of 15-20% be carried out. Reduction Via Thinning is the selective removal of the branches that are deemed likely to fail in high wind conditions, natures pruning points as it were. In removing these branches we also remove weight on the major structural limbs and lessen their chances of failing.

After completing the pruning work the last phase of the job was to install lights onto the tree so it could be enjoyed as a feature at night as well as at the day time. Take a look at the final picture and see for yourself what has been achieved.
